Default Why not nitrous?

I see so many modification that add up to lots of $$, but Nitrous seems to offer tons of kick for little $$. Other than refilling the bottle, what's NOT so good about them (dry system on a stock GT)? Not for anything more than more kick in the pants when taking a hot cruise around town (or the backroads)?

IMO it is only good for some people in certain cases, not for the average DD at all and that is what the majority of us use our stangs for. It is also an easy way to do damage to your car no matter what anyone says. You cant blow you engine with a CAI or tune

I'm not a fan of nitrous but the main reason I don't have it is because I run in a street legal class that doesn't allow nitrous, or slicks or 2 steps, etc.

On the contrary I think it would be even better for a daily driver due to the on-demand power. Hell, I would probably only need the power advantage of nitrous about twice a month (how many times I actually floor the pedal in my car).

Every time I talk to my tuner about it he seems to stray which makes me nervous! Starts babbling about piston coatings and such. lol! I know it can put a pretty hole in your cast pistons but so can any type of FI if not tuned correctly...

I loved running on the bottle when I had it, but I hated fillingthe bottle. I never had any safety issues or backfires.

Now I have way more power on demand whenever I feel like it.

For someone who wants the occasional "kick in the pants" it's great.

That's the other thing my tuner babbled about, nitrous backfires. Supposedly deadly. I'm sure it's all tune related and as long as you stay with a 75-100 shot I don't see a problem.

Then again he had a lightning 5.4 block sitting in the shop with the whole spark plug hole blown out 2' around and piston ina million pieces from FI. lol!

I guess i should rephrase.....I was thinking he meant get the nitrious over getting cai/tune, udps, exhaust and such. I think these should be first in my opinion and then if you still want the juice for your DD then go right ahead and add nitrious. I agree that it is best bang for the buck but there are some mods i think the DD would see some more benefits from.

You're absolutely correct Matt. I think you should build up to FI or nitrous or whatever power adder you so choose.

I still keep kicking myself for not letting the dealership install the whipple when they asked me about it though...[:@]

Nitrous is a great bang for the buck. I ran it for about 1 year with no problems.
