Default bad to have idle TOO LOW?

hey guys..

i just adjusted my tune today and changed my nuetral and drive idle from 760 - 540.. when idling, it doesnt seem to be having a hard time stay awake, but can this be bad compared to a higher idle?

Tell you the truth, I don't think it's going to be detrimental to anything. I prefer mine a notch higher than the stock w/ the 5 speed. Going a few notches either way isn't going to hurt anything.

Still don't get why you would want it lower though? I guess it's ok where its at as long as it doesn't sound like it's going to die

Mine is at 1k since I like the way it sounds

I have an 06 V6 that was idling fine until I got to about 20,000 miles and it dropped on it's own to about 550 rpm's. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this? I took it to the dealer and they swapped out the throttle body which gave it a lot more pep but did not fix the low idle. I took it back again and they told me that it was fine and everything was set to the factory specs.

My car had a lot of issues with RPM stability when idling. Ended up being a cracked TB.

I have mine at 850 (Brent put it there).

I know it is not good to let a car idle to low because of cam lobe wear. Expecially for the guy's who have installed a good high performance cam with a lift close to 550-600. I've seen guy's do this with Harley's and cars alike to try to get the more thumpty tum sound only to wear the lobes down.

Anyone know what the Ford spec is for this. Seems like it's around 750.

My tune bumped the idle up to 850, which I found annoying and wastes gas. I dropped it as low as 650, but am now back to 700, which seems nice.
