Default Panhard Bar install question

Getting ready to install Panhard Bar and Brace. Am planning to support rear axle on jack stands to do the job. Question: Do I also need to support the chassis prior to removing the panhard bar? Will there be any body shift when the bar is removed?

I'm a total rookie at this. Managed to get axlebacks and adj. LCA's on all by myself without wrecking anything -- felt pretty good about that!

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I think you need to support the car by just the chassis. I think it would make things hard if there is you had weight on the axle.

Blue,

Thanks for the reply, but the rear axle must be supported for the install, either way. Official factory instructions require using a lift, then supporting rear axle on jack stands. Suspension must be at "curb height" to remove bar.

Has anyone done this by themselves on jack stands?

which panhard bar & brace did you purchase? I actually installed new 20x10 wheels with 295/30 tires today and found my driver's side tire sitting out about 1/4" further than the passenger's side...needless to say,I be ordering one tomorrow...

Support the chassis with jack stands then usea floorJack to support the axle. That way you can adjust the axle up and down to match the holes up.

noonyb: Thanks, sounds like a good plan!

05: I got the Steeda adj. bar and brace. Was leaning toward BMR to match my LCA's, but Steeda sold me with their claim of "alloy steel" vs. BMR's "mild steel." Not sure if there's any real difference -- I'm just a sucker for advertising, I guess.

I did the install by myself on jack stands. I put it back on the ground to made then made the adjustments there. 05 mustang I have BMR tubular adjustable panhard bar. it only 134 from lethal performance. Here a picture of it install before I adjusted it.
