Default Borla Exhaust?

Hi im about to buy my first mustang. Im getting the 09 GT Mustang and i want to get the Borla exhaust system put on it. I dont know much about different exhaust systems, but i want the deep throaty sound, not like the rice burners that are out there? The dealer that im dealing with says i should get the Borla x-pipes, should i listen to him? Any help would be great! thanks

I also saw this Borla Cat-Back Aggressive GT? Is this any better, also how much would get it cost to get an exhaust system like this installed?

Nothing if you do it yourself.

Do a search because there are thousands of threads on this topic, even a "how to" guide on the x pipe. You having a warranty and all I'd go with the FRPP Borla Stingers and get the dealer to install it on the arm.

This is what you want. It's what we call Borla stingers. Best sound for our cars.

I have the stingers too.

I've been pretty pleased with my Borla exhausts....and I haven't heard anything else that I wanted to trade this sound for....

Good Luck!

Thats a damn good price! I got mine for 450 somehow...dont remember exactly how...but $503...thats as cheap as I've seen them or heard about them in a looong time.

EDIT: Nevermind there's a bunch that low...I guess the prices have gone down recently?

is there a big difference between the axel-back and the cat-back, enough to pay an extra $200 for it?

thanks for all the advice

I bought the catback because I was naive and kind of hoping it was really a true catback system, not just an axleback with over-axle pipes. It's not worth the extra money...probably.

the car comes with a full stainless steel system, so I don't see how the catback would be worth the money when it's the mufflers you're wanting to change out ultimately..

i have the catbacks, too, and you're probably right, sonic. anyway, the exhaust was my first mod and i was a n00b.[&:]

that being said, op, my exhaust sounds sick - super deep tone, easily heard from quite some distance away (my gf used to tell me she knew when i was coming over 30 secs before i arrived). definitely the anti-ricer exhaust, totally muscle. plus, imo, you just can't beat the gurgle on startup at low rpms - sounds mean as hell! if i were to list one complaint, tho, it's that the borlas do drone around 2k rpm. not terribly, but definitely noticeably. otherwise, i'm very happy with my choice.
