Replaced Battery. Car starts. Accelerator does nothing.

Replaced Battery. Car starts. Accelerator does nothing.
You've probably had battery problems if you own an 05 or better Mustang, but has anybody heard of the accelerator becoming useless after replacing the battery. The car starts, but just idles. I called the Ford dealership-no help. Pulled the battery cables of for 10 minutes(as the dealership suggested) but still nothing. Maybe there's been another discussion on this, but I've yet to come across it. Please post a link or help if you know the answer, and don't guess please.

Let's start with some basics. What year is your car? How many miles are on it? When you put your foot down, how many volts are showing at the TPS?

By no guessing I meant no stupid *** comments.
2005
13,000 miles
If this is an acronym test, I failed.
Thanks in advance for any possible help...or typical smart-*** forum comments.

TPS = throttle position sensor. Check the voltage going to it, if it changes as you press the pedal, but the TB doesn't respond, then the TPS is bad. If the voltage to it doesn't change, then it could be a broken wire, or it could be your pedal assembly (it's electronic).
Either way, I'm guessing you're out of warranty.
If you meant no smart-*** comments, then you should have said so. Mechanics have to guess sometimes, too. They don't just look at a car and go "I know EXACTLY what that is!" Well, sometimes, but not usually. More often than not, it involves some testing, some troubleshooting, and sometimes, some trial-and-error (read: guessing).

4.0L or 4.6L
Cant diagnose
not knowing
which TB
you "fried".
I need to
know the engine
size so I can
look it up in
the electrical
diagrams.
The 4.0L and
the 4.6L and
the 5.4L are
all different
but the same.

hey glad to heat it fretbored1, hopefully
next time the boards will be a little
more welcoming and forgiving
some of us love to help and try to
troubleshoot.....it does get a little
frustrating however, when we don't
have even basic info to go on...
