Default PLease help need advice

Ok so I have been trolling this forum for about a month now, and have got a few questions....

First off I have owned andwrenched several cars 99 eclipse gsx , 91 mercury Capri XR2 ( vert), 2004 Nissan Frontier XE ( supercharged king cab - extended bed) and also way to many motorcycles to list ( current bike 06 cbr 1000rr) But I have never had to use a tuner or had tune ( other than a power commander on the bikes Same thing?) I already have added a Dynomax dual exhaust and x pipe to my 06 v6 pony package stang, Now i am looking to get a CAI ( anyone know if i can get a GOOD used one?). From my reseach I have learned that unlike my other vehicles that i just bolted it on and was good to go I will also have to get a tuner ( would also like to save a few bucks on a used one if possible) now would i also have to pay to get a tune to use on the tuner? Can someone explain the prosess in detail for me? sorry to bother you with such a semmingly lame question but i really want to know so i had to ask. Let the flamming begin. thanks!!!

No flaming required. Good question for a newbie... hehehehe...

Be careful buying used handhelds. Unless the previous owner returned his car to stock, the tuner will need to be unlocked (by one of the tune vendors). You CANNOT use a tune designed for another car (at least not a decent, custom tune). Also, handheld tuners can only be used on 5 or 6 vehicles total.

If you DO find a decent handheld, you'll have to buy tunes from someone like Brenspeed or Bama (can't recall what they charge) and have them e-mailed so you can download them to the tuner. After that, you're good to go.

Best bet IMO: find one of the less expensive combos from Brenspeed, Bama or evolution. The CAI itself doesn't matter too much as most of those worth a darn are all equivalent in performance. The CAI's might give you 2-4 RWHP but it's the tune that'll be the kicker. A decent combo will get you as much as 25-30 RWHP with a 93 tune (or higher, if you can get it) octane.

After all that, loading the tune is a piece of cake.

I might be bit off with the above, so your best bet is to call Brenspeed, Bama, Evolution, etc. and explain to them what you want to do and they can give you the do's and don't.
