Maybe I should stop modding...
...because everytime I'm ready to make a big change, something bad happens right before!!! Case in point, 5 days before I was scheduled to add a new spoiler, hood scoop and exhaust in December, I got rear ended and slammed into a Ford F-150. Fortunately, all came out OK, including the Mustang, but now it's the day before I add on my new chin spoiler and as I go out to clean the car, I find this on my hood!!!!!
Now, I know it doesn't compare to getting into an accident, but man, this hurts just as bad. I've managed to keep her looking showroom new all this time and now this. Funny thing is I don't recall at any time getting hit by a rock, rock debris, etc. And I assume it would have to have been something big to do damage like that. No dent, just paint gone!
My question now becomes - what's the best (and hopefully least expensive) fix? I have spray touch up and clear coat...do I try to tape around the area and give it a go? Or do I go back to the body shop that repaired my car and have them fix it? Is it easily fixable? This isn't your ordinary paint chip...
Sorry, I know it's just a car, but man, it sucks to see something like that. Anyhow, thanks to all for letting me vent and your ideas are welcome.

I know what you mean. I have a black car and I see every single possible little scratch or ding. My heart sinks everytime I see one. Here we are investing thousands into our cars and all it takes is one small ding to make us second-guess it all. I feel for ya man. Let us know how you fix it.
Looked like a picture of a UFO in the thumbnail
As for the chip, that's what happens I guess. I drive my car everyday and don't have chips that bad but there are some chips here and there I touch up with factory ford touch up paint. That's probably the best you can do for now.

Well as I'm drying it I find a scratch on the drivers side door... [
]then i keep going and find another scratch on the rear part of the car... ish got me all pissed...[:@]

A closer look at that paint and it looks like it "flaked" off....you may want to take it in for the ALUMINUM BODY PANELS—CORROSION—SERVICE TSB 06-25-15
The tSB says: "You may some vehicles may exhibit a bubbling or blistering PERFORATED METAL.
under the paint on aluminum body parts. This is due to iron contamination of the aluminum panel.
I mean...it may not have been perforated...but it sure did blister....give it a try..and yes, it does apply to the 07 stangs...
PM your email if you need a copy of the TSB...its .pdf format.

No apparent ding to cause the paint seperation.
Loks TSBish to me also.
Iwould use the terms seperation or blistering
when dealing with the dealer. Not chipped.
Go the dealer route and see what they say.
Make them fix it right as per the TSB.
Be nice as this gets good results with dealers sometimes.
