Default Muffler burn

So my roomate thinks my boomtubes are sitting close enough to the edges of the cutouts to cause burn? What say you? At the closest point it's about 1/2" away from the edge. I've attached a few shots.

I've driven for about 30 miles now with them on and nothing so far just wanting to be on the safe side.

Mine are closer than that and I've had no problems so far (I drive a lot, too). Your drivers side tip looks like it angled left a little bit. To fix this you have to unbolt the midpipe bolts and line it up, then tighten them down again.

The pipes on my Cervini's kit touches the side skirts in a couple of places and that has not results in any damage. You have nothing to worry about.

Thankyou. I realize the tips aren't perfectly aligned and I do intend to fix it eventually. It's not far off enough that you can tell at first glance. I have some LCAs on the way and when I do the install for those I'll have the car up on jacks anyway. Probably just kill two w/one stone then.

How do you like the Boomtubes though? What else were you thinking about getting?

The Corsas were my second choice. I decided on the boomtubes based on sound clips, end user reviews here, and also price. So far I'm happy. Noticeably louder in and out of the car and about the sound level I was looking for. There is some drone at around 2000rpm but it is tolerable IMO.

The hardest part of the install is getting the stock mufflers off. I agree with everyone that wratcheting wrenches, especially a 13mm, are an absolute must. I'm happy for now with the fit and will fine tune it next time it's convenient and the car is up on jacks.

I had an earlier thread up and the first set I got from brenspeed had a loose weld floating around I couldn't get out. They also had poorer quality welds than this set. I do have a small mark about 1/2" visible on the passenger side pipe but it might come off with some wd-40 if it's not a scratch. If someone has recommendations on how to polish these up and keep them clean I'm open.

No problem with them being that close.

My tips are closer than yours (at the top), and have not had any issues (so far). My plan was to keep a good coat of wax on the bumper cutouts and watch them closely.

I'm going to climb under next weekend and make sure I got everything on there tight enough and the clamps aren't coming undone. Just to be on the safe side. While I'm there I'll have a helper hold each pipe while I loosen up the hangers and see if I can get them perfectly straight w/o messing with the midpipe. If it doesn't help then I'll just suckitup and fixit when I put in my steeda LCAs.
