CATS/ NO CATS
ok i have a bassani x pipe comming from over seas and i want to see what kind of gain i might see if any over the jba off road h pipe i got tricked into buying cause the guy at rpmoutlet didn't know what he was talking about. so that being said i am going to be stuck over in england for atleast 4 years and since i have bought a new car i don't get an emissions check. i was going to do a pull with no cats on just the jba long tube headers bassani x pipe and borla cats. but when i mentioned this to the guy that dyno's in chambridge he said he didn't recomend it. he said it could cause some other problems. what is he talking about i have a 69 dodge dart (back at home) with straight pipes no muffler at all and there is no problem there. is there some thing i don't know about new cars and there exhaust system. are new engines more efficent with alittle more restriction? will i see any gain from this or just get niose? one more thing i also have a budy that ordered his 05 GT in beginng of feb. he is still waiting but he ordered some SLP loud mouths that he has had for a week now but no car to put them on. i was going to do a dyno run with them as well to see what gains he would see if any with his car and to compaire them to my borlas. do you think that with no cats and the slp's that it would be just too loud?
i just got the whole JBA system put on today with the off road h-pipe (no cats)...my shop guy programmed my SCT to shut off the rear O2 sensors. that is the only problem you will have with removing the cats. if you dont turn off the sensors, you will get a check engine light. no other problems. runs like a champ and loud as hell
I am envious....but I am also curious to see how that works out for you around inspection time. If Harris Co. is anything like Collin and Dallas, you better hope you always have a buddy to pay $100 to each year for the life of the car.
i come from california and when i am done in the airforce that is where i will return to. so i am going to have to swap my factory exhaust back when it is time for inspection. pain in the dick yes i know but my uncle has a shop with a lift so i will do the work my self before i drive it down to have it smogged but in the mean time here in england i can do what i want with concern to exhaust.

Same county that the car is registered in? Believe it or not the now check that. Or at least up here they do. I have a friend that lives in a split county, one side of his city is in Dallas, one side in Denton. He went to get an inspection done, and when they checked his address he was told he needed to go to their other store at X address because of the county. I used to have the same issue living in a city that was split between Dallas and Collin counties.

are you seriouse don_w you have to be kidding right. i mean the steering wheel is still on the left side of the car it is an american car shipped from america. i just have to drive with the wheel close to the curb. i have gotten use to it but it only has all the euro light conversion so i can drive it on the road over here.

I love Florida, no state/emissions inspection!!!!! I used to live in Texas and had a '93 Cobra with full 2.5 ehhaust, no cats. It was a pain having to remove the H-pipe and install the cats for the inspection.
