Corvettes started offering the HUD back in 1999. I've looked into adding one to the Mustang, but the after market HUDs require an ugly projector attached to the dash. Cars designed for a HUD have the electronics housed in the dash.
im sure you could do this, it would just require alot of fabrication, maybe moving the airvents

The new Corvettes have them, at least the Z06s, don't know about just the C6s.
I had it in my 2000 FRC 'Vette. Its a nice option, I always left it on for the speedo, you get used to it being there. I would rarely shut it off. I believe all the C5's from '99 and up to '04's had it as an option, except the 2001 Z06 definitely did not have it, GM engineers thought it to be gimmicky, and more luxury oriented, not needed on the Z, but the Vette crowd voiced their strong opinion in favor of the HUD, and it was re- introduced in 2002 C6's it might even be standard now, but I know its available.

Its alot of work even on the Vette that doesn't have one to retrofit it, and it is in the top of the dash. There is an on/off button, and an option button to change "screens", and a dimmer slider switch. It possibly could be done, maybe somehow on a Mustang, but I couldn't even think about trying!

it would have been a cool option for the mustang
id get one just for the gadget factor, if it was more integrated
in the dash

id use it ifi rush too muchandim not thinking
it wouldavoid tickets

over time, youcandevelope a sense of how fast your going
when you use the same roads
and been driving for10 or 20 years

Why would you seriously want that on your dash? It looks very out of place...wouldn't you want a more stealthy installation of something like this?
