You got it right. Returning the car back to the stock tune unlocks the tuner.

Returning to stock releases the VIN lock on the tuner.
The unit can then be re-sold.

This must be a used purchasefor the fear of it being locked to another VIN #?

I bought a used supercharger and it came with a locked Predator. Besides sending it back to Diablo, does anyone know of a way to unlock it?

Thanks,

People dont lock tuners. It is locked by default when you upload the stock
tune and download a custom tune. Reload the stock tune to the vehicle and it becomes unlocked again. Otherwise, the makers of the tuners would only have sold 1
and everyone could use it by taking turns. Its locked to sell more tuners.
One per vehicle VIN #. It would be silly if they didnt.

Nope, its locked to the vehicles VIN that matches the stock tune thats in it right now.
And the custom tune thats in the vehicle thats its locked to is now gone from the tuner.
DiabloSport will unlock it for $375 or so, the cost of a new unlocked tuner. [:@]

Actually according to the technical person I talked to on the phone at Diablo they can not unlock their tuners. I bought a used Diablo that the guy told me was unlocked and it wasn't. He gave me my money back and let me keep the tuner so I called Diablo to see if it would be cheaper to pay to have it unlocked or buy another tuner. That was when the tech told me they don't unlock them.

They should make a tuner that's one time use and then "transforms" into a flying robot to be "recycled" to the factory.
