Rear End Clunk
I did abig install on my car of LCA's, Reloc Brackets, and a panhard bar a while ago and noticed a big change in rear end noise. I recently added an UCA and now the rear end noise is really loud. All of the joints are poly bushings except the panhard bar, which is spherical on both ends, and evertime I got over a speed bump, or an uneven road, or the step to get into my garage it clunks and is very loud. I can also hear the rear end gears engaging and clanking together but I guess this is normal because of the closer tolerances of the bushings. I got under the car to look at what the noise could be and decided none of the bolts were loose or anything. The only thing I could see being the culprit is the panhard bar, which i can rotate on its bushings and can tap the rod ends against the mount by moving the bar back and forth. Could this be the cause of the problem? Could it be that everytime I go over a bumb the suspension moves and the rod ends tap the mounts? I also noticed that eveytime I look at the bar, the lower part of the rod end is towards the front and the top is towards the rear. In other words, its slanted towards the rear of the car, which is not the way i left it last. This leads me to believe the bar is moving, I just cant imagine it making all that noise underneath the car like that. Anyone else have a similar situation?
I have a similar problem after I lowered my car using the frpp lowering kit. It sounds like something "knocking" around the right rear of the car. I only hear it over uneven roads or bumps. Up untill I lowered it there was no noise. I haven't had a chance to take it back to shop yet but I will late next week.
gabb,
Thanks for the quick reply. I emailed HotPart to see what the recommend I should do but they won't get my email until monday. I will probably ask to exchange it, and I still have my stock panhard bar to put in during the exchange. I may swap my stock one in and see if the sound goes away depending on what they ask me to do.
