since when does a V6 with a tune and cai make 260+HP at the crank?!
Don't know about that, but the acceleration times for the V6 are pretty close to old V8 times.

My trip computer hass been less than 1 mpg off ofcalculated when setup right. I get 19.x on 87 tune, 20.x on 93 tune. My old WRX got ~21 on the same commute. I've got the 3.55 gear. I've seen 28+ on the highway in theright conditions; flat road & sticking it right at 70 on cruise (which is 69mph for me actual) can hit that.

As for the commute, it's in traffic soI stick with shifting under 2,000 rpms. Usually at 1500 rpm. I keep up with traffic, so no worries. Torque FTW.

At 2000 miles I switched to Mobile 1 full synthetic oil and immediatly noticed a change in the mpg that I was getting. I was impressed.

As mentioned earlier, windcan playasomewhat significantrole in gas mileage...

Geography - If you live in a hilly area your mileage will suffer.

Driving Habits - If you're one of those people who can't moderate their speed properly (ie follows too closely and needs to use too much braking and accellerating to keep a steady speed) your mileage will suffer.

Tire Pressure - If your tire pressure is under 34psi, your mileage will suffer.

Parking Garages - Not thought of too often, but I park on the 10th floor of a parking garage Monday - Friday. Going up those 10 floors in 1st gear isn't going to help my mileage at all!

Weight - How much you weigh, how often you drive with passengers and how much weight you have added in mods can potentially cause your mileage to drop significantly.

Just things to think about...

good looking car... but i bet all that body work and wheelsadd weight. i'm betting a few hundred pounds at least. that makes a difference. especially in city driving...

I don't get it...I drive mine somewhat fast but not too bad, and I cruise often and I only get TOPS 14 mpg...And the tank always says empty but I can only get like 13-14 gallons in the tank when I fill it up.

i can't make any sense of my gas mileage. it's all over the place. usually around 17-18 mixed city/highway. last time i filled up i got almost 25mpg though with some easy highway driving but then also 30mins of hard charging (constant shifting between 2-3-4 and hard braking) through a very twisty section of backroads...

i think the biggest influences are the right foot and headwinds.

Wantsa Stang GT and wants better gas mileage... Sounds like a conflict of interest.
Getting good gas mileage and having a powerful car isn't contradictory. Look at the C6 vettes. The stang GT only weighs 3400 lbs. If it had a six speed manual it would be both fast and efficient...maybe not too inexpensive

This isn't the 70's. Technology can give you both. It isn't too much to ask for everything...hey it's your money.

My record the other day was 31.5 MPG.
'07 GT automatic, JLT intake with bamachips 93 tune on a flat road 60 mph... 31.5 MPG! It made my day.

But in city driving, I get 18-19 mpg.

Yeah those on board computers are never accurate. Add to the fact that many people do not properly know how to calculate it by hand and it scews the numbers to look like they get better mpg than they really do. My '01 GT gets 15mpg around town and 19 hiway(heavily modded). My '08 V6 gets 23 mpg city and 29 hiway.
Sorry, I have to disagree on that.
I always compare my manual calculations to the computer and they've been very close every time.
On average, the computer is not more than + or - .200 off my calculations. At one point, it's been as close as .030.

Last week, I put in 14.878 gals and spent $56 (3.779/gal) for 87 Oct.
Total miles on this tank full was 374 miles while averaging 25.138 MPG in 60% hwy and 40% city driving.

Computer: 14.7 gals/ EstMPG 25.3

Actual: 14.878 gals / calculated MPG 25.138

Diff: -.178 gals vs actual gals, .162 MPG vscalculated mpg

Not bad for a computer.

Whenever I fill up, I don't try to top itoff bypumping the nozzle, squeezing out a few more drops, after it stops the first time.
If you do that, then your numbers will be off.
Once it stops, that's it, and I do my calculations.
Try it a few times and you'll see.

my 19 mpg is what I calculated based on # of miles driven/# of gals filled...

50/50 hwy & stop/go...most of it was conservative driving (1-2 @ 10mph; 2-3 @20mph; 3-4@30mph, etc...), though I got into the go-pedal a few times (car only has 230 miles on it...). Gonna wait a while before I really have some fun with it.

I have a 2007 V8 Mustang GT Convertible and made a trip from Chicago to DC last week. I averaged between 26 to 29 MPG (on paper and the computer) for the 700+ mile trip. Most of my time was spent on the highway cruising in 5th gear, so your mileage may vary. I was kind of shocked to see these great MPG numbers for my Mustang.
