Default Idle issues...need help!

I recently purchased an '06 Tungsten Gray GT. I had it detailed at a local Ford dealership since the dealer that I had picked it up from hadn't touched the car. After having the engine bay detailed the rpm's are surging to 1200 and dropping to 400 and nearly dyingwhen coming to a stop with the AC on.

I had assumed that this was an IAC issuesince it seemed to me that it is sticking closed...but apparently there is no IAC on the s197's.

I removed the mechanismon the passenger side of the throttle body (tps???) and cleaned it as well as the throttle body. Now the rpm's are hanging at 2000 and again at 1200 (all the time, not just with the AC on). The throttle is sticking bad enough that you have to fully engage the clutch to stop (no downshifting) and the car will pull itself down the road at 2000 rpms w/ no assistance or drop in speed.Does this sound like a tps issue or is it the electronic throttle control that is causing the problem?

I just solved this exact problem this morning..........your mass air sensor is dirty. Get some intake spray, pop your air box lid look down the tube, don't brush it. Just spray the sensor, while ur atit spray the throttle body too. it should work great.

i just read the rest of your post. My idle didn't go nearly as high as you. Maybe it is your tps

Try disconnecting the battery for about an hour. The adaptive learning should reset. It can't hurt.

I cleaned my MAF when I got the car since it had a K&N on it, but not since it was detailed. It's a possibility that something has gotten it dirty since then...

I will clean it and disconnect the battery at lunch and see if that helps.

I asked at the dealer about it, and they said K&N sometimes dirties the MAF with oil

Yeah...I know. That's why I cleaned it in the first place. K&N will swear it's a myth but they're full of it.
