Tune only

Tune only
Has anyone tried doing just a tune only without an aftermarketintake? I'm asking because I would like to have the better throttle response and the firmer shifts and keep the airbox oem. I would like touse the xcal3 from sct. Thanks

RE: Tune only
I have a tune w/o the intake, but I do have a JLT intake on order. Just using the tune makes a difference. At first I was using the canned 87 per. tune. According to the dyno I gained an avg of 7 hp and 15 LBS of tq. For the past two months I have been using Bamachips 89 tq tune. This is even stronger than the 87 canned tune. Throttle response has improved with both tunes.

RE: Tune only
I used the canned 93 tune from the x3 with nothing else and i really didn't notice a big difference, but made a difference at the track. Stock i ran a 14.0 at 99mph and with the canned tune i went 13.4 at 104.

RE: Tune only
Although I currently have the no-tune Airaid installed, I've tried both the Steeda/Brenspeed and C&L/Bamachips combos. While going back and forth with Brenspeed, they sent me a tune to try with the stock intake (I was seeing a big loss of low-end torque with the Steeda intake). Their "stock" tune, with the stock intake, provided at least 85% of the (high RPM) benefits I saw with the Steeda intake and tune.
