My gf has a birthday coming up and I want to get her something for her '08 Mustang GT. Id like to get her a hood scoop and racing stripes. She has been wanting them for a while now. She has the alloy color and wants black stripes... what do yall think? And finally, would it be easier for me to find a place that would paint and install the scoop and stripes, or try and do that myself?? I really havent the first idea on how to do that on my own!

Stripes are tough to get right. Scoops are much easier. I'd find a shop to put on vinyl stripes, and do the scoops on your own.

Do the scoop first, and then the stripes if you're going vinyl. Stripe around the scoop, BSM sells
kits if you select a scoop they know about. If you put a scoop down on top of the
stripes, the stripes will bunch up. Bunch of threads about it, and it happened to mine as well. I had a
terrible vinyl striping experience, so make sure you see some of the selected guy's work before
letting him touch your gfs car...

If you want to spend the coin, painting the stripes and the scoops and a body shop that can do the
whole thing would be the best bet.

Be DAMN sure that is what she wants. I know I would be seriously P-O'ed if my wife did anything to my car
without my prior approval. I'm very, very picky.

I guess the question is how much money do you want to spend? Good quality scoops painted alone will run you 250-300 bucks. I would just go with those for now, they look good, are easy to install and easy to remove is she decides she doesn't like them. Stripes tend to be more expensive and harder to remove especially if you paint them on.
