Default Fluids - Dealer Says "Change"

Hey guys, it's been awhile...

Anyways, I have a question. I took my baby to get an oil change yesterday and they told me that while inspecting the fluids they found that the break and transmission fluids are black. It doesn't make sense to me because ive only got about 69k miles, 85% highway and I thought the transmission fluid in the 05+ manuals were supposed to last till 100k.

What should I do? Thanks.

Black tranny fluid?!

I recently changed the tranny fluid on a 93 Suburban and the oil had 80k miles and it was still red...

Are you sure they said black? That sound wrong...

100k is the rating for normal driving conditions. Considering you have a performace vehicle you really should consider have them replaced. How do the know the tranny fluid was black. Did they drop the pan??

God knows and I am sure there is some "iffy" in there but oh well. I wouldn't mind changing them out soon though, would you recommend synthetic? If so, what?

I'm already using 10w-30 Mobile1 filter & oil in the engine. Works like a charm.

Personally with 69K miles I would stick with factory product in the tranny. The system is used to it and was broken in with it. I wouldn't run the risk of changing to synth at this point. You never know what might happen with the change.

IMHO - Cheap insurance. I'd have it done. I've considered changing my tranny fluid and I only have a few thousand miles on the current fluid.
