Default Time to change the Plugs

I'm going to "attempt" to change the plugs in the 06 tomorrow. I've never done plugs on a car before and a little advice and words of wisdom would be appreciated. How much of a pain in the bawlz is the whole ordeal, or is it pretty much a simple in and out job? I got raped by the dealer last time I needed anything done, so I'm trying to inhance my base knowledge in the DIY area. Thanks for the help.

You might look over some of the other threads on GT plug changes. THEY ARE NOT A NORMAL PROCEDURE! or easy, How many miles does your car have?

Yes my advice would be to take your time. Make sure the engine is warm, use penetrating oil (i used deep creep), start with the torque wrech set low.. like 20 lb-ft. One of them is destine to be really hard to get out but twist it a little at a time back and forth being very patient. My stang had 18,000 miles when I did it. Used the champion's and the cars runs great.

If a 17 year old kid in his garage can do it, so can you. It really isn't as hard as people make it seem. Unless you're a dumbas$ who is going to crank them out in 3 seconds, you'll probably be fine. Follow the TSB (don't have a link, sorry, maybe look in some other threads on the subject) closely.

One of the first things the Ford TSB states is to do this job at room temp. This is because you have aluminum heads and threads on the plugs stand a good chance of damaging the threads on that aluminum head when the engine is warm or hot due to its softening up. I work with aluminum parts in high heat applications(typically 400 degrees Celcius) and can vouch for the above information.

I couldn't break them loose at room temp at 25 on the torque wrench. I HAD to warm the engine. just run the emgine for about 5 minutes till it's warm to touch, but not hot. Break em loose, add the carb cleaner, wait like an hour, then slowly remove them.
