Default Engine life with gears

I have a 07 V6 auto and I would like to install 3.55 or 3.73 gears with a T-lok. It's my DD also. How much life would I be talking off the engine by going this? How much for the 3.55. How much for the 3.73.
Thanks in advance

None. If you maintain the car like you normally should... it will make absolutely no difference. It will, however, significantly increase the size of your smile

btw.. go with the 3.73 gears.. 3.55 would not be worth it.

If you aren't planning on going FI you should get 4.10s. I did and I'm sure glad I didn't go with 3.73s (let alone 3.55s...).

Even though the RPM's will be higher all the time? Should I switch to Synthetic to help out. Thanks for the reply.

yes there will be slightly more wear from the RPM's being slightly higher, but so slight that you are talking maybe 1% to 2% less life. The way to combat this if that is a concern is to drive a little slower during your normal drives

Yes. There are plenty of cars out there with "tall" stock gears; for example, my wife's Subaru has 4.11:1 gears from the factory. BTW.. people with 5 speeds tend to keep there cars in the higher RPM range with no measurable long term consequences.

I'm not sure about the 4.10s.. sometimes I wish I bought them and sometimes I think the 3.73s are perfect. I used to drive around 80mph on the highway.. so I was worried about gas. Now that I retrained myself to be safe and drive the speed limit on the highway (yes.. 55-60 [:@]).. the 4.10s might have worked....

BTW.. do your part to help the economy. Drive the speed limit when you are not in a hurry. I am averaging an extra 100 miles per tank just by going the speed limit and not driving like an *** all the time. I still get her sideways every now and then, but going the speed limit saves a remarkable amount of gas. More money to spend on tangibles.

Remember the 2008 Bullit has 3:73 gears. You will be fine. Just take care of the car. Gears are not going to put extra "wear" on the engine. You will then you "punch" the gas more. HAHAHA You will really feel the difference going from 3:31 to 3:73. You should also get a tune to fix the Speedo and Odomitor. Gears are on of the best bang for your buck mods.
