Default Wider 18" Tire Size?

Search function is down so I'm going to ask. I have 18" Fanblades on my 2006 'stang. What would be a wider tire that I could run safely without rubbing the front struts or rear shocks? Stock tire size is 235-50-ZR18.

I believe 255's are what you can SAFELY put on the 18 x 8.5's. I know some have gone wider but it's not considered safe.

i've been running the size you're talking about on stock fanblades for a while. they barely bulge. in fact i had a thread about them with pics about a month ago, but i can't seem to find the file right now to insert pics. if i figure it out, i'll post them in a new thread later.

I would like a tire that is wider (bulges) so it can protect the outer edge of the rim. These fanblades are really susceptible to curb rash! [sm=headbang.gif]

Nice. Are you running them up front? If not, why not? What is the exact tire size?

no, i decided to run a 245/45 up front, only because i like the staggered appearance. but i can't rotate the tires in this scenario, so i spent a lot of money to get the front end alignment spot on. actually, the tires i'm using can be rotated side to side, though. they're sumitomo htrz III's
