Default Access to Keyed Power

Is there an easy place to tap into some key hot power...ie without taking the whole dash apart or pulling the stereo? I was disappointed to learn that the 12v power on the dash is "full time" and my GPS will not auto power down.

I will likely just add a female cigarette adapter under the steering column someplace and then run the Garmin wire along the left side out of site.

I assume I could have a stereo shop pull the radio and grab some key power there...I was just not wanting to go to that extreme. BTW, the GPS draws like 100 mAh.

Thanks!

Please provide more detail on this "just use an add a circuit"?? Is there some kind of kit you can buy with the correct plugs to just add a circuit??

Its a fuse with a wire protruding from it.
Replace a current key on fuse with the
fuse-tap. Power your device from the wire.
Or modify a fuse if you have a soldering iron.

You can tap into fuse number 3 in the passenger kick panel sjb. It's a 10 amp and only hot in run or acc.
The add a ciruits are like 10 bucks at autozone and are perfect.

Use the same size (rating) fuse as is in the cigarette lighter plug.
Be sure to get the polarity right after cutting off the lighter adapter.
