SCT2 and LIVE LINK 3 Question....
okay; i'm a newb. and i'm sure i'll get flamed for this question....
but i got a SCT2 tuned by brenspeed (with a JLT2 intake) and of course it came with the live link software. i have a laptop; and i hooked it up to the car with the SCT....pretty neat bunch of lines....but to me that's all that they are....a bunch of lines....
what's this software good for? is it useful for the end user? maybe a link to explain how it all works?

LiveLink 3 is just that, a pretty neat bunch of lines.
If you are having problems with your tune Brenspeed may ask you to load a few parameters and drive around a bit to log some data to be used in fine tuning. Other than that I have not found much use for it.

i figured as much. thanks for the response martin.
Actually, Livelink is a great datalogging software. When you start the program, pic your PID's (i.e. ignition timing, coolant temp, RPM, MAF count, IAT's, tranny temp, etc. - there are literally hundreds of parameters to monitor) and save the file. Next time you're at the track, you can datalog all these parameters while racing. The real beauty is that if you get a wideband, you can run the analog output from the WB through the Xcal and onto the Livelink software. It wil give you a real time A/F graph overlayed with the other PID's you are recording.
All this ain't just for giggles. Save the datalog, send it to your tuner, and see if there's more hp to be gained - i.e. higher shift points (auto), more timing, etc. You can also datalog short and long term fuel trims, which tuners love to see. In the right hands, Livelink is a wonderful info resource. If you just stare at the lines, well, it won't do much for you and I suppose it's nothing more than a "pretty bunch of lines".
