I recently moved to a county that requires emissions testing and have some questions. I've got a steeda CAI and kooks catted long tubes. I tried to get inspected and I failed. I had three sensors report not ready; the rear o2s and one labeled catalyst. I could have passed with just the rear o2s not ready. I dont have a check engine light or engine code (checked with my tuner). What exactly is the catalyst sensor? Can I do anything about this?

 

Your tuner has disabled the sensors in the tune. Don't you just hate it when you only learn these things later, when you need inspection - Grrrrrrrrrrr Now you have to contact them to make you a tune with them enabled, unless you can run the car with the stock tune although some cars don't like to run witha stock tune with modified components. Can you restore atleast the intake to stock and install the stock tune?

 

Yeah just reinstall the stock tune for a few minutes it takes to do inspection. If you have cats then the tune is the only thing you need to worry about as it disables censors.

I have stock mufflers a Steeda intake and SCT tune. To pass inspection, I had to reset tune back to stock and put the stock air intake back on. [&:]
