Default problem with Viper alarm install

hi
I can't find much info on this, so thought I'd ask the experts (that would be you guys).

I recently got a Viper 5701 2-way remote start/alarm system installed in my '05 GT.
But the shop crew are having a tough time making it work properly. The remote start seems to be fine (which you would think is the hard part), but the problem is that the Viper still interferes with the factory security system.
They are using a bypass module, which they claim is the right one. It's one of the newer ones that needed 2 keys to program, but doesn't need to keep a key in it to work. (I didn't want the type that 'eats' a key)
Problem is that if I arm the Viper, leave the car, come back and disarm Viper, when I open the door the Ford security system goes off (horn honks etc). So clearly it's not being 'bypassed' correctly.

So my question is - how should this work if installed correctly. Should the Ford system basically be 'deactivated' and replaced by the Viper, or should they somehow work in combination with each other? Should I just be carrying around the Viper fob, or will I always need the Ford fob too? I don't want the car to end up easier to steal than it was to begin with...

thanks a lot guys

i'll take a stab at it.....

it appears that when you arm your viper system,
the Ford door ajar monitoring system is also activated.

When you disarm your viper, it's not applying a ground
signal to circuit 1313 (LB/BK), which would disarm
the door ajar monitor.

let us know what the fix turns out to be,
i would be interested to know...

By bypassing the PATS system with the module, you are making it EASIER to start and steal. Basically unless the viper is installed correctly (most are not) its a very easy to bypass alarm. []

Should have got Compustar.
Hammeron seems to have a good explanation though.

thanksHammeron, I'll suggest that to them.

I'm still wondering - if installed correctly, is the PATS system completely 'switched off', or is it still functioning some of the time?
I don't know if I should expect the Ford system to just be gone and forgotten at this point (never use the Ford keyfob again), or not

cheers!

you ****'s are on crack. The bypass does not rid of the pats system. Atleast the dei one i use put a ring on the ignition and uses a key in the box so obviously it needs the key to work for the pats.

You should be able to disable the factory ford alarm system some how.

and viper, and about 7 other brands are made by dei. meaning its all the same product.

not on crack (I wish ;-)
Irgnation What you describe is one way to do the bypass, where the module 'eats' one of your keys. That's simply so that key's chip is always in the car, which allows any matching (chipped or not) key to start it, and makes life easier for the remote start unit.

BUT my system uses a newer type ofmodule, that uses both the chipped keys to program but does not need to keep one permanently inside it to function. That way I can keep using both keys.

The problem is not with that - the remote start works fine like I said. Problem is I don't know how the two security systems should properly interact for simple alarm functionality, and clearly my shop doesn't either. Of course the factory alarm has to be disabled, but question is is it permanently disabled or only when the Viper is armed

and I know they're all DEI - shop have called DEI about 10 times for support.

Whos on crack? I am fully aware of the PATS system still functioning.
If you can remotely startyour Stang via a PATS bypass module,
I also can start your stang with a little electronics knowledge
and a dent puller. Simply put, a PATS bypass module is just that.
It satisfys the PATS system into thinking the chip in the key is there
even though it is not. I will stick with my non-bypassed PATS system.
Theives are more hi tech than one would think. Now if you actually had
a Viper snake under the drivers seat, that would be another story all together.
I would go back to the place of purchase for a full refund unless they can
get it to work right. Sounds like they are 'follow the instructions, and if that
dont work, I dont know' type of 'installers'. It can be done right and they didnt
do the job correctly. Was this a 'friend' with a shop install or a professional install?
Did they mount the siren up out of the reach of theives who just cut the siren
wires or just mounted in plain view from under the vehicle. One siren or did they
add a back-up siren? Is the system on a battery back-up in case the battery
cable is cut? A good alarm installation and a bad installation are not one in the same.

damn i like that bypass method better..

i would permanantenly disable it. since i installed my clifford avantguard 5.1 i have had no problems but i never had the factory alarm.

this seems to difficult it should not be that hard. I am not saying i know the answer but i thought it would be easy to disable the factory alarm
