fluid
my 05' mustang just passed 30k so, knowing what i know i took it to firestone to get my tranny fluid changed. the guy came up to me an hour after i turned it in. he tells me my tranny is sealed and that only the dealership could open it with some sort of key. he then tells me he thinks that on my tranny you're supposed to change it every 100k, which sounds crazy to me. so what do i do?

30K miles? I couldn't find it in the scheduled maintenance booklet that Ford provides along with the Owner's Manual...I did read that they've purposely sealed the automatic transmission because it does contain "long-life" synthetic transmission fluid that will outlast the previous versions. 100K miles is not far off...I know that my son's VW GTI auto tranny requires the tranny fluid to be changed @ 100K and their coolant (G-12) never needs replacing (supposedly good for the life of the car), just add G-12 as necessary to the overflow tank. The Gold coolant used in the Stang is supposedly good for 4 years/60K miles. Just like good old Dex Cool in many GM cars is good for 5yrs.
