Default Time for a brake job

Good morning all,

I was in the middle of the Ozark Mountains when I noticed a slight grinding when braking hard in hairpin turns. At the gas station I noticed a very slight scoring on the right rear disc. (I can tell you later why it was the right rear.)

Anyway, I went searching and found these on Ebay and would like any input. Anyone tried these? Looks like a great price. Are they worth it? Good experiences? Bad?

As always, I really appreciate your input.

Thanks.

BTW. You people from Missouri and Arkansas...Absolutely gorgeous drive.

Edit. Sorry. Forgot the link.

Looks to me like that they are painted or powder coated. They really look nice but I think they are scamming on the zinc..... Just my opinion From reading on google you cannot get black from coating with black zinc phosphate it comes out gray...

Nope, stay away from those rotors.
Only buy name brand and not the hype.
You will be kicking yourself for not buying quality.
Avoid drilled rotors as unless made correctly they
WILL heat stress crack under hard use. The holes
were used in days gone past as first gen disc brake
pads produced gases when used hard and the holes
were a way of dealing with it. Slotted rotorsare fine
but I dont see the point of slotted AND drilled rotors.

Thanks, I think NWArk is a nice place to live and play.
Did ya cruize the Pig Trail by any chance?

I just replaced the rear brakes on my '06 GT. I got some brake rotors from Rock Auto called Centric. The hub section and outer edge were powder coated and the friction area had a non-directional pattern. Very happy with the way they perform. I have heard some real horror stories about cheap brake rotors from China or Korea etc. Cracking, warping, hard spots causing pedal pulsing. You get what you pay for.

Thanks for the input guys. So the general consenus is to steer away? I'm not so concerned about whether they stay black/zinc or not. I kind of figured that was a marketing thing. I don't, however want warping etc.

The ad says you can get them slotted only, drilled only, or dimpled/slotted so the the issue of slotted/drilled being unnecessary isn't that much of a driver.

I'll check out Craigs List. I found my exhaust on there. I haven't seen a whole lot else except people getting rid of stock wheels etc. (That'll be me shortly.)

I guess I'm looking for way to reduce sticker shock. Just got back from the brake shop and they gave me an estimate of $1548! That just isn't in the cards. I was hoping for just turning the rotors, replacing the pads and walking away for $500 or so.

They say all the rotors need replacement, along with the pads, and that both rear calipers are seizing and need replacing. Add in hoses/fluid/labor and that's a chunk of change.

(Not thrilled about the calipers. I brought the thing in while under warranty because the right rear was dragging for while in the cold weather. They replaced the cable but maybe that wasn't enough. Will have a separate conversation with them.)

And 157 DB I don't remember a Pig Trail. Could be though. Is it off Hwy 7? (At that point I was more worried about gimping home to WI with bad brakes. Not the best deal in the mountains.)

Just a little more west from HiWay 7 between Ozark on I-40 and Fayetteville.
Twisty, turny and scenic. The road literally disappears at night around one
particular curve coming up it towards Fayeteville. Its a shortcut of sorts between Fayetteville and Little Rock.
