Default TB need cleaning???

I'm having a little problem with my rpms. Sometimes when I come to a stop, foot off gas, the rpms don't want to come all the way down...just kind of hangs around 1500. Also, at times I'll be sitting at a stop light idling and my rpms begin to slowly rise until they reach about 1500-2000, and then they either stay there or just drops back to normal. It's not my AC doing it because all my climate controls are off. Could this be from a dirty TB? I know my C&L CAI cone filter is nasty....black soot/dust all over it. I bought some K&N recharger tonight to clean it up.

Has anyone else experienced this rpm thing?

Thanks.

Wow...no replies?

Well, today I cleaned my cone filter and reinstalled it. The rpms did the same thing. I think the problem may be in the accelerator. I tried the DIY Throttle Response Fix a while back and mangled the tiny brushes a little, and I think this causes the rpms to stick. If it keeps it up, I'll just order a new throttle sensor. I think they're about $40.

yup you need to clean your tb, get TB cleaner at a autozone or some store. Take off your cai and spray the outside and then get some on a rag push open the butterflies and clean behind as far as you can. a ton of black crap will come out. do this until you feel its clean enough and then put back together and start car. MAy take a few revolutions to start due to the cleaner but you will see a big difference. My car changed and i will do this know all the time. Good luck

I took my CAI hose off and my TB was clean in front. I wasn't sure about messing with those butterflies. Is it really that dirty behind it if it's so clean in front?

yes, you will be surprised and just turn the butterflies the correct direction. dont force them in the wrong direction. You will not hurt anything
