+1

A deep stage will usually give you a better reaction time but a slower ET (less of a roll before you cross the start beam). A shallow stage, which is when you just barely light the second bulb and don't roll in any further, will usually give you a slower reaction time but a quicker ET (more of a roll before you cross the start beam).

Deep staging will typically get you a quicker reaction time but slower ET.
Deep staging will start the clock quicker because you rolled up closer to the stage beam
(taking away the rollout).

If you were to stage normally, youhave about 6-8 inches "rollout" before your tires trigger the clock/beam.
Kind of like a running start.

I'll ask, since it's been a gazillion years since I did any track time......Why do they write it on the window???

It's to let the track official know you're going to deep stage so he won't start the tree until you've
completed the deep stage. Maybe they'll hold the tree, maybe they won't. So if you're going to
deep stage, get up there 1st.
