05 or 06?
The first time I test drove the Mutang GT i was sold... I just dont know what year to buy? I am buying used of course. According to consumer reports the 06 is the better buy but should I really spend the extra money on the newer car with the same miles? Is there any major differences from year to year? Thanks for the input and hopefully i can get my orange stang asap

The first model year of any new car is going to have problems; little subtleties and other annoyances, nothing major though. A buddy of mines' 2005 has problems with the dashboard cover rattling and some of the plastic was poorly placed but otherwise it rides, drives, and handles just the same as my 07. If little annoyances bother you, however, try and get a newer 06 or even an 07. Good luck finding that stang that you really want.
Don't forget the 06 manuals came with 3.55 gears, which is a plus compared to the 3.73's.
I dunno if the 05's came with 3.73's and 3.55 as an option or not but I know the 07's were that way.

My 07 has 3.31s. I wish it came with 3.55s.
I thought some came with 3.31s and some with 3.55s but I am not sure of the years.
I dont know of a 05-08 year model S197 that 3.73s were standard.
If used...there isnt a HIGE diff in any of the years. Look around and see if you can find a like new 08. You MIGHT be able to find a leftover 08 that the dealer is itching to dump on the cheap. $4-5K more on a leftover new 08 would be a much smarter move than an 05 with 20-30k on the clock.
The 09's are piling up...so the 08's will move well now.
