Default Tint...and a Surprise!

My wife has been begging me to get her car tinted...something light "that looks classy" in her words. Since I have had the last week off, I have been getting all those honey-dos done...or sort of done.

I called the Lexus dealer and they told me the small shop that does their tinting...so I gave them a ring and set up a tint job on her ES. I was chit chatting with the owner about this/that and why I was trying to get so many things done in a hurry (deployment etc.)...then my wife pulled up in my Mustang to take me out to dinner while I waited...so off we go.

When we came back, her car was done...looked great too.

He asked me what % I wanted done on the Mustang...and he would have it done in an hour (they were closed already at this point). I said...oh, no worries...we can set something up when I get back..."Nonsense he said..and it is on me."

I refused several times, but he insisted...he was a former Marine.

So in went the Stang and sure enough...55 minutes later, they were cleaning the windows down.

Since I live in the great state of IL (sort of like CA with bad weather), tinting side/passenger is illegal. So we went with something light...carbon at 50%. In back we went carbon 30%. He did meter readings and coupled with the OEM, the front reads at 38% and the back at 19%.

The car looks perfect and the front is light enough that the man wont mess with me.

I tried to pay him...but I got the "Your money is no good here..."

So off I went. Snapped a couple pics. I know this isn't a show car, but I think it accents the black ont he car quite well. I drove the kids to school this morning and I can really tell a different in the interior...no more sunbake from the back forty acre window.

Very happy...guys did an awesome job!

Here are a couple shots...how does it look?

It looks good! It should help keep the heat down in the inside too.

Nice job! Where is the shop? I drive from KY to Chicago's NW burbs about 1-2 times per month. If it's convenient I might call them or drop in to get more info.

Looks good. I had my windows tinted last fall also, I went with 35 on the sides and 5% on the rear window. Realy brings the inside temperature down on my black interior.

Hey NUKE....I'm from the Chicago area myself; well 45 minutes south anyways. I had my windows tinted at a shop in Olympia Fields called Mr50's. They are located on RT30 just behind a Blockbuster video store. If you come up 57 on your way to Chicago get off on RT30 going east, stay on RT30 for about 5 miles (I think) and you will see a Blockbuster video store on the left side just before Western Ave. Turn left into the parking lot of the video store and go straight behind it. Its in an old dealerships garage bay area. Hope this helps

Very nice. Good choice getting the 50% in the front windows. I live in CA where the laws here are limit you to 70% but obviously 70% is nothing and I could have put something much darker on like most people get away with. I decided to go with 50% in the front and 35% in the back. I was very happy with the results. It blends in my windows with my car so much better and it isn't overwhelming and impractical like 5%.

I donno about you but for some reason the tint looks so much more obvious the daytime than in dimmer light.

looks awesome; anyone have more 50% (or lighter) pics from the side? I've been thinking about tinting my windows but with something lighter than 35%
