Default Strategy Code Question

Hey all, I知 looking to buy a tuner/intake package from Brenspeed this week but I wanted to make sure I have all the bases covered before doing so. I bought my 08 GT/CS in March but in April I took it back in to get the passenger airbag recall done. At that time, I知 not sure if they updated/changed the strategy code. Is there a way I can find out what my strategy code it without having access to an SCT or similar? I知 not too familiar with the process so any help/advice would be much appreciated.

I think you can call the dealer and ask...otherwise order the stuff assuming the code is correct, and make sure you check it with the tuner in advance of installing the tune and the CAI. If it's different, Brenspeed can email you tunes with the updated code.

Dustin

ps. Nice choice going with the CS

Yeah, I wouldn't imagine they would change the entire code. Your box is labeled for a reason. I don't think it's assuming they didn't change the code.

It's a fact that they didn't. If in the end they did. I would take it back and tell them to put the right damn one back on...

Hey Steve O Chap,
My understanding is that the tsb on the passenger airbag though being a re-flash on the computer did not effect anything but the timing on the airbag deployment, so you should be good. I've read where some guys had the tsb tco'ed while running a modifided tune and it didn't effect the tune. You may want to give Brenspeed a call.

your code is the same they just reset some perameters on your pcm, your code is specific to your pcm and they just altered some info on the "airbag deployment" portion of it. kinda like how your tuner tells your engine management portion/ trans portion to act differently but you 4/5 digit code is the same
cheers

My Airbag TSB went without a hitch but a friend of mine who has a GT Vert with pro-charger took the car in for the Airbag TSB and ended up a very unhappy bunny.

When he collected it he realized within a few hundred yards that it wasn't running right and swung right round & went back to the service dept.
After checking the worksheet they found that despite him asking them to leave the PCM alone (it was annotated on the work order) they re-flashed the PCM with an updated mapping profile at the same time anyway altering the strategy code !!

To say that he went ballistic is NOT an exaggeration !!

Anyhoo, my point is that you have to MAKE SURE they know to leave the PCM alone. I tell the service reception and also leave a note attached to the steering wheel in a place that can't be missed during access to the OBD port.

Make it clear that any alteration to the PCM will end up costing THEM money.

That was the whole point of my post... how do I know if they changed anything? I don't have an SCT or anything of the sorts to read a strategy code from the PCM.
