i have called every shop in my area, about 15 or 20 and all of them said they do not install gears and one guy said 650 for the install and anotherone said 433. isnt this a little high? what did everyone else get theirs installed for?

 

from all the discussions I've read, those prices do sound a little high. I think for the install only, most people are probably paying around $250 - $350.

 

for the install itself, $300 is a fair price. definetly nothing over 400. they better do a damn good job

 

Tomorrow! I am getting gears installed for $380. Thats install and gear cost, oil, everything! Thats a a good price!

I just paid $600.00 for everything. The shop specializes in Mustangs. I have NO gear whine.

 

i installed my own 4:10's using frpp and the bearing kit.....shim it right....my car was the third s197 that i have installed gears on......no whine at all!!!!! i thought about doing a write up because i am putting 3:73 in an auto gt this weekend.....it took me and a buddy about 5 hours(breaking for a drink all the time)......the stangs that i have changed gears on are all friend's gt's, so i charged nothing because it is fun to work in my shop! good luck
