Default Engine light Hell!

I cannot figure out why my engine light is still coming on. I received the new SCT tune because my car had a flashing engine light and lost power when it was flashing, it all started when I added the UD pulleys. I would reflash and the car and it would be fine for 3-4 days then the engine light would come on solid, 3 days later it disappeared on it's own then later that same day the flashing engine light and rough running like it wasn't firing on all 8. The manual says flashing engine light is a misfire condition which is why SCT came out with a revised tune. But the problem is still here and driving me nuts. Is there a cheap way for me to pull the code?

The problem is gonna be finding a compatible scanner. Our cars are CAN protocal. That means that an 04 Mustang scanner wont work. Ford can scan it for you or you can buy a CAN scanner. Also if you live close to someone with a Diablo Predator for an 05 mustang it will scan it also.

I guess a regular OBD II scanner wouldn't pull the codes huh? My friend has one, he works at a Toyota dealer in town, he said it should pull the code.

I baught a brand new Actron modle 9150 and I have to wait till the end of this month before the upgrade comes out . They give you software to download to the scanner plus a pc board to attach to the current one to upgrade it. Very few dealers will have this scanner. This new language code will be manditory in 2008. Ford is just early with it. That may explain some of the check engine light problems and coil pack issues. Might be some more bugs to work out in this new super computer.

If you have a buddy local that has a Predator, he can do it for you. The Predator marries the computer for the tune, but will work on any other like make and model vehicle for code diagnostics.

Now it's my turn. I already said that above in my first reply. (Grin)

Yeah I don't know anyone near me with the Predator, I will wait for the light to come back on and take it to the dealer and ask thm to pull the code and tell me what it is, I remember when I intsalled the Steeda CAI kit the MAF sensor was a VERY tight fit so I filed the edges down a little to get it to go into the tube, I can't imagine this being a problem though. The wierd part is when the engine light is flashing and running rough, it gets worse and worse, then I reset the light and the car runs perfect for 3-4 days. Maybe it's not related to the upgrades at all but I won't know until I get the code it's throwing.

I was also told they are having problems with the coil packs themselves. You may need to have them all replaced.
