Could I do those all around on the GT500 wheels? I know you can do it on the rear...looking to have killer handling after I lower the car and I know tires are a main part of the grip...but I will occasionally dragrace the car and I'm wondering if the bigger tire on the front will be of negative effect for drag racing. I DO NOT plan on changing wheels/tires at the track. I'd like for my DD to be the setup I thrash at the strip and track...

I believe 275 is about as wide as you want to go on the front. As far as a negative effect at the track with 285's on the front. I have never seen or read where someone has had them on the front and drag raced so anything I would advise would be purely speculation. However I cant imagine that having that wide of a tire on the front in a drag race would be a positive thing. sorry...wish I could give you more concrete info...

The 255/45-18's are the same height ( 27" ) as the 285/40-18's, and are as thick of a tire as you need up front, unless as mentioned your running 275/40-18's all around like the Steeda set up. Erik

i think the 285s are a bit big on the front, they will likely rub and cause the car to track poorly on the highway

It can be done, some Saleens run 285s up front.

yeah its works with minimum rubbing when you crank the wheel all the way. it will add extra weight too though and not where you want it for the strip

They will not rub at all!!! The GT500 wheel is 18x9.5 +45 offset. With a 285/40/18, there is tons of room still. I have run 18x10 +40 offset with a 305/30/18 all around, and still hav not rubbed up front. I will bee working on a 18x10.5 +45 offset with 315/30/18 all around. I will post pics and info when done.

The tire you're running is much to low profile for what I'd like...would there really be any advantages of running 285/40/18 up front? Would handling be increased?
