Question Stupid question thought I’d ask anyways

I’m prepping my engine for some appearance modifications.

I discovered two white circular plastic pieces serving no purpose whatsoever.

I decided to use a pair of scissors and cut them off.

Did I make the mistake of cutting off something important or were they useless and disposable?

They're useless, no problem cutting them off. They are on the connectors, like in your photo, before final assembly.

Thanks for posting this "not stupid" question. Having just installed a shaker and spending some time under the hood, I noticed them and wondered WTF, but just couldn't get myself to cut them off... until now!

A stupid question is one not asked. Those tabs are guide tabs to install your A/C - Freon/cooling lines for your A/C system. Those tabs break off when installing the pipes to ensure the tech is certain the pipes are properly and firmly installed. You can cut them off without any problems.

No problem, I'm glad this question was beneficial to someone other than myself.

Cutting them off will KILL the value of the car when Barret Jackson evaluates it. Missing factory items.......

Barret Jackson - please I doubt the 1,000,000+ 2005+mustangs out there will have any worries about finding a tab that doesn't really belong there from the factory anyway......the value on these cars will not be high for 50+ years and that value is in the eye of the beholder....JMO
