Do I have a radio problem?
Last month I traded my 2006 V6 coupe with Shaker 500 radio for a 2007 GT coupe with Shaker 500 radio. In the V6 the radio would display the song title when playing CD's. The radio in the GT does not show the song title even when I press the button that is supposed to display the song title. Are the radios not the same from 2006 to 2007? Shaould I take it back to the dealer?
The radio in the V6 didn't have a button between the seek butons that says "TEXT/SCAN" on it. According to the owner"s manual it says: "In CD mode press and release to display track title, artist name and disk title (If available). the information was available in the V6 Shaker 500. The same disks show the information in my 2006 Pontiac G6 with 6 disk changer. What I liked about the V6 Shaker is it always showed the track title without pushing a button like I have to do on the G6.
Interesting, I wouldn't think they would change the radio between V6 and GT. Seems quite odd to me.
I have the Shaker 500 in my 06 GT but I can't remember if it shows the names or not. I usually let my exhaust be my radio.
But I do use it sometimes and I'll mess with it tomorrow and see what it does.

try an mp3 cd. the same thing happens to me as well. i burn a audio cd and it just shows up as track 1 blah blah.
throw an mp3 cd and it can show artist, album, song...
i prefer to throw an mp3 cd cuz i can fit 700mb on the cd instead of 1 hour 20 minutes of audio (17 tracks maybe and doesn't even show song title) whereas the mp3 can hold over 91 tracks and that's just about 580 mb. definitely makes use of the 6 cd changer that'll be changed less frequently. good for long drives too.

I then put the same CD in the 6 CD changer in my 2006 Pontiac G6 coupe and it displayed the CD name: Modern Times and the name of the first track: Thunder On The Mountain. In the 2006 V6 coupe the track name was always displayed without having to press a button. Now, on the Pontiac on the other hand, you have to press the "Display" button to get any display from the CD. That's why I liked the Mustang better.

Last month I traded my 2006 Tungsten Grey V6 coupe with automatic and Shaker 500 for a 2007 Tungsten Grey GT coupe with 5 speed manual and Shaker 500. The 2006 Shaker 500 would display the track name and CD title and artist name when playing a CD. The 2007 Shaker 500 does not display the track name or CD title or artist name. The 2007 manual says it should display the CD information if it is available.
Today, I drove to the dealer and talked to the service tech. I told her that my 2007 Shaker would not display any CD information like the track title. She then asked me how does the radio display the CD information? She had never heard of that! I got her to put my CD in a Shaker on another 2007 GT that was sitting there and it displayed the CD title and the Track name. The catch is the radio in the other GT looked like the radio in my 2006 V6. She then said it was not the same radio.
My question is does anyone have a 2007 Shaker 500 with a button labeled Text/Scan between the two Seek buttons? And if you have this radio does it display CD information when a CD is being played? The Mustang Owner's Guide says on page 22 that the TEXT/SCAN button: In CD mode, press and release to display track title, artist name, and disc title (if available). The service tech said it may not be available to which I said it was available when you put the CD in the other car! She just gave me a blank look.

I have a Shaker 500 in an 07 also. It does not display the CD name, or the song (trak) name. It does display the CD number and track number. The Text button does nothing in the CD mode. The Scan button will scan the CD. My Text button works in the Aux Mode (Sat radio) to display the name of the Sirius Radio channel and the name of the song being played. But, again only on Aux, Sirius Radio mode....hope this helps

Would you look at page 22 of the owner's manual and read the part under 13 and tell me if I am reading that correctly? I liked seeing the track name displayed on the 2006 Shaker 500 as I drove down the road. The CD information displays fine on my 2006 Pontiac G6 2 door coupe so I know the information is on the CD.
