Default 07 Navigation system

I'd like to put a navigation system in my 07 GT 500. I know they came as options on the regular 07 Mustangs, but is this a plug & play installation? Can I pick one up on ebay/junkyard/salvage and do it myself or am I going to have to have a pro put it in or is this a dealer installation only???

Thanks in advance!

I went aftermarket with a pioneer avic d-3, it has navigation and was a pretty simple install. I did mine myself.

Definately go with an aftermarket setup as you will get better sound and options than what you can get with the factory setup. I went the new JVC double din nav unit with removable face plate as i have a convertable and didnt want to leave my new stereo out in the open with the top down.

As well the install is pretty easy as long as you get the right parts and follow Taco Bills how to instructions.

I'm kind of paranoid about aftermarket systems. Will they work with the speed/volume control? How close to factory do they look?

crutchfield has some close to OEM and has all the features of an aftermarket one. I'm having the same dilema as you. I want an aftermarket navi but one that sits flush, not one the fits and has gaps on the outside.

An aftermarket system will do way more than the stock system. In fact the factory system is a watered down Pioneer unit. As for wanting all the options to work such as speed / volume i know the JVC does do that. I do have the Pioneer Z2 in my truck and it doesnt do that.

As far as fitting in nicely, the Z2 will look better than factory if it is installed properly.
The JVC will stick out about 1/2" due to the face plate being removable.
