Default 3.73 vs 4.10

I have an 08 manual gt and i have the sucky 3.31 factory gears. I need to go a bit faster so i need to decide which gears i need. I will probably turbo or supercharge the car in the near future, so would 4.10 be too much? With turbo lag, will the 4.10's be just fine? With super will 3.73 be better?

4.10's if you go turbo or centerfugal but you will need big tires for that. 3.73's if you go twin screw.

20's are never going to be the best for traction, but the DR's should help. Check out the 305's if you have a 10" rim.

IMO I would get 4.10's no matter your form of FI.

I have a TS and 3.55's and they arent enough gear. 3.73's wont be enough improvement IMO either so I am getting 4.10's.

If you go turbo or centri I agree 4.10's are a must.

Oh forgot to add, with 20's and street tires (I group nitto DR's here too) you wont ever see traction in 1rst, the 4.10's will significantly improve acceleration in all the other gears where you car will hook. Big advantage from a roll which is where you will do 99% of you hard accel on the street.

At the track a set of dedicated rims and ET streets should hold up to the power and gear, and you will have faster times.

Good luck

I know this might be a newb ? (i am a newb) but what exactly do gears do? so with 4.10's i will accelerate faster in every gear but specially in 1st? I love acceleration over top speed so i am leaning more towards 4.10's. Would it basically make me spin the tires with a supercharger?

Yes...you'll accelerate faster in every gear. Yes, you'll spin the tires more easily as the gears increased your torque.

With 4:10s you will spin the tire when you power shift to second with street tires. I have them and when I step on it, it like being released from a sling shot. Definitely go for the 4:10s.

I too had 3.31's in my 08. I was real leery about going with 4.10's, thinking they would be waaay too steep for a street car. After getting hammered on by everyone for being a wuss, I had 4.10's installed, and am very happy. Just do it and never look back.
