Default another winter question

I recently bought some 20" wheels with pirelli rossos. I was told by a friend that I should, for some reason, not have these even mounted to the car during winter. I live in northern Minnesota and only plan on driving it on nice days when there is no snow or ice on the streets. Is there really a good reason why I shouldn't even have these 20's mounted during the cold months? Am I supposed to bring them inside the house then?....I don't get it. He said something about the cold temperatures on a hard compound tire. Will they crack?

Thanks for the help

well it wouldnt be good for suspension or even your rims.. There is no sidwall to give cusion between the road and the rim and you could bend the rim. the extra forces are sent through the suspension and into your kidneys. if you think it runs rough now just wait untill its cold outside. Im a proud Albertan.. (CANADA) an we get half winter up here and NO ONE runs 20s in the winter. dont chance bending a rim and put your factory rims on just incase you need it and besides your oem tires a "no seasons" and should stand up ok in the winter. Ive driven mine on OEM rubber in 4 inches of snow....
Trust your buddy and no you dont need to bring them inside. put a good silicone based non-cleaning tire shine on the sidewalls find a corner to put em in and cover them up for the winter

I would take them off just because the salt can kill the finish of the wheel.
