I upgraded to Poly shifter bushings and kept the stock shifter.
I never miss third now and the Saleen short throw kit is a blast.
All for under $50. Gotta love the eBay.

3rd isn't so bad in the stock shifter imo.

i've only been driving stick for about 2 months. i used to miss 3rd occasionally because i was over-thinking my shifts...trying to force the issue with it too much.

i've found that there's only a slight push up and to the right, and, for me, the shifter just seems to "find" 3rd from 2nd.

i used to be petrified downshifting from 5th to 4th, afraid that i'd accidentally throw it in reverse, pull off the clutch and BAM...from 5th to 4th, the shifter does something similar to 2nd to 3rd in that all you have to do is pull *slightly* toward you but mostly just straight down, and the shifter again "finds" 4th.

Have you raced or shifted for speed?

And you can't go from 5th into reverse by accident the car has a lock out that won't allow the stick to go into reverse that way, you have to move the stick from left to right (from 1st to R) before the car will go into reverse.

The only issue I've ever had w/ the Hurst STS, (not the billet), was the damn bolts holding the handle to the shifter walked themselves lose and fell out. Let me tell you how the O'**** factor rises when you down shift from 5th to 4th on the expressway, doing 75mph and the handle comes off. Since then I've replaced the factory bolts and added ton of locktite. The feel is great and the hells yea it looks good.
