stupid racoon
I hit a racoon tonight on the way home from work. I didn't see it untill it turned around and I saw it's eyes. It was too late by then. Anyway it broke one of the posts in the bumper cover and the lower grill. I'll take it in to the shop tomorrow to see if any mechanical damage was done.
I was feeling pretty good too because I just installed web electric's sequential tail light harness and I have a roush hood scoop coming. Newtakeoff.com has bumper covers for $200 plus shipping. If thats the only thing that got damaged I'll do that so I won't have to turn it in on my insurance.

Dont feel too bad.
30MPH direct hit in the rear.
And to top it off, the kid doing
the estimate set his camera on the trunk
lid where it proceded to slide off and
scratch my clearcoat.
Cant win for trying.

A couple of quick pics. It looked worse last night before I popped the bumper back in. The post that broke was sticking straight out. The one thing that you can't see is the air dam under the radiator is all busted up and is only being held on by one screw. I did get it put up on a lift. No mechanical damage only the plastic.
The estimate the dealer gave me was $925. The labor was $200 and the rest is parts and paint. I told them about newtakeoff. They weren't to happy about that but would still do the job.
I've had a little while to think about it and I think that I'm going to try and patch it up and get a differant kind of front fasia latter.
I am so glad that it wasn't a skunk. Been there done that more than once.
