You'll have to check the tire manufacturer's recommended wheel width range for that particular tire. You might be able to get away with it on an 18 x 8.5 wheel but from what I've seen, you may be pushing it.

You need 18X9 wheels for that size tire.

I have that size right now on my stock 17" bullit wheels. You dont need a wider rim to fit them. You'll be just fine

I don't know how wide the factory 18" bullitt is, but I have that size Falkens on a 18x9 AFS wheels bullitt replica and that is the widest you can put on a 9 with the 40 sidewall. And, btw, if you're not sure what brand tire to go with read this first which is only a few personal opinions:

I know that my fanblades and most of the other S197 Ford OEM wheels are listed on Tirerack (under Ford Racing or SVT) and has the wheel specs. Again, just because you CAN put a certain width tire on the wheel doesn't mean you should. Respect the tire and wheel manufacturer recommendations.

I'd go with a 9" or 10" rim for that size. I've got 285's on a 10" rear rim and they match pretty well. What rim width does the tire manufacturer recommend?

If you decide to go with this size tire,
I have two fairly new (3000 miles) Nitto's
NT555 of the same size sitting in my storage.

Let me know if you want them.
