Default anyone removed the "fire blanket"?

if you have a stock hood with the "fire protection" blanket removed, please show me some pics.. the pros and cons of removal? i have heard that it defeats the reason for the cai(hard to believe)...if you have the stock hood and removed the underside, please post some pics and tell me if you had any changes at all......noise,etc.
thanks
jason

what do you mean that it defeats the reason for the CAI? how would it effect CAI performance?

i believe its called a hood liner, and there was a thread a couple of days back about a guy who got a custom liner made cause it was interfering with his intake. Will post link if can find it.

Im not sure removing it wont hurt anything. Its supposed to deflect heat to protect the hood paint.

Mine's long gone.
On a stock car it doesn't do squat IMO.
I think Ford put it there so the under hood paint doesn't show it's flaws after a few miles on a DD. It ages bad, since there isn't any clear coat, just the base coat.
It gets discolored after a while and looks ugly.
By the same token, an aged hood insulation looks like sh#t as well.
Damn if you have it, damn if you don't!

BTW, there isn't enough heat generated by the engine to ruin the paint if you don't have a hot blower or Turbo plumbing up high.

mines gone... it seemed like more of a heat sink sitting right on top of my manifold... i'd rather get heat out of there than keep it in.... take it off and if you think your car just got louder, put it back on... it takes all of 2 minutes...

No pics but, I took mine off two years ago and it looks as good underneath as the day I took it off. I wipe it down every other wash. No problems whatsoever.
