Default Aftermarket COPS

I plan to purchase some aftermarket COPS this week. Who makes the best brands? I see that summit racing carries some affordable ones which I've heard are Accel re-brand. Are MSD better? Granatelli also has some new X-series that look nice.

Aftermarket COPS have been shown to provide SOME RWHP improvement for aspirated engines but nothing meaningful for N/A. Plus, I've heard about aftermarket COPS being less reliable than OEM. Until I hear more positive things about them, I'll put that $$ towards other mods.

Thumbs up

I installed the MSD's a few months ago and it smoothed the car out unbelievably.
My son can drive it now without stalling it.(he doesn't get to drive it much yet)
Throttle response is a little better now as well.
Is it worth the $$$ if you want much better drive ability yes.
Looks for the show yes!
More power not really.
May have improved the gas millage a little.
I like them and haven't had any issues yet.
Hope not too!
Oh yeah did I say they look cool!

Cheers!

I was looking to buy some about 6 months ago and was talked out of it by people alot more knowledgable than me. Seem reliability is an issue and the gains arent really worth the money. I decided to stay with the stockers until a set comes out that gets great reviews. I have heard some rumblings the X-Cops are good, that you can get through Lethal, but no first hand accounts yet.

I had to replace one factory COP anyway, so I went with these from granetelli. Smoothed out lower RPMs, not sure if any hp was gained on the big end.

What's all this "smoothed out"?

I plan to go FI or nitrous soon and just wanted to beef up the ignition a bit. I also heard from Moosestang that the COPS eliminated his exhaust trumpting and the car just runs better.

I'm at 337whp now and figured with upgraded ignition and some UDP's could be touching 350whp. A zex kit is also in the plans soon.

I just installed a set of MSD COPS and have no issues with them. They were recommended by my mechanic and I trust him. The car runs better and the throttle response is much better. Only took me 15 minutes to do the install.
