Which do you prefer- Factory made or doing it yourself?
well there a great sense of pride when u build something yourself. being able to say " yes i built that on my own " just makes me feel good about myself and the bigger the challenge the better i feel about it in the end. And with that i've learned so much about cars and how they work. It's a win - win situation.
I like to modify and change things. I like to change one thing see its affect and try something else.
I will say there are certainly pluses to getting a car "predone." If I bought a Saleen and could leave it alone I have no doubt it would run great and reliable for years. They researched designed and intended for all those parts to go together.
Cars I have modified in the past ended up frankenstien's with parts from tons of manufacturers. In the end alot of times, the car ends up unreliable or ill handling.
This time I new everything I wanted to mechanically and worked toward that. Having a plan and a budget are important when modifying.
If I had the cash I would have a bone stock Porsche 911 turbo as a DD, and a crazy built mustang for the track and weekend.

I prefer a little of both...

It's all a matter of perspective. Any car can be great starting platform for one to make their own, as no matter what you start out with, there's always room for improvement and personalization.

Depends, if I have the money to customize the car the way I want in a short time frame them I'd buy basic and build it up. If not, I might consider prefab/OEM modified and be done with it.
I hate seeing cars that are never finished as in the major stuff never gets done or is done halfway because the owner runs out of money or gets sidetracked.
