Default Thinkin' 'bout it!

Hello All...

Just found your forums. I'm in Indy and thinking about buying a Mustang. Kicked myself by not getting a Mach I when I had a chance. Oh well.

Right now I drive a 2007 F-250 with a Powerstroke. Yeah, I belong to Ford-Trucks.com also. I LOVE my truck but dang, the over $1.00 per gallon difference in the price of diesel fuel to gasoline and the fact even with driving the F-250 easy on the pedal and keeping it under 2000 RPM it still only gets me 15 MPG while in town. If my numbers are right I'm above water on my F-250, because it stayed parked all summer while I rode my motorcycle everywhere.

Thinking about getting a 2008 GT "Premium" 4.6L stick shift. Found a couple in vapor in Lafayette, IN and one vapor with an "over the top" stripe in Kokomo.

Got some dumb questions - 1. With the TC does that make these easier to drive in adverse weather (namely snow)?

2. What's the "comfort" group on the 2008's on the sticker?

3. Is the "IUP" the chrome trim around the instrument panel and shifter?

4. Anything to look out for?

Welcome to the forum! I can answer most of your questions.

1. Im not sure but I would imagine so.

2. Not sure.

3. IUP= Interior Upgrade Package which I believe comes with the aluminum dash upgrade and Im almost postive all of these mustangs came with chrome around the instrument panel and air vents, not sure about shifter.

4. Not that I can think of.

I live in Northern Colorado and my '05 GT is my daily driver so I think I can add input to the TC part of your question. Yes, it does make a difference. I've driven in the snow both with it on and with it off. If you have a good "feel" for your car, TC isn't really needed as you already know how much gas you can give it for the conditions. If you are new to the car, TC will help more in limiting the rear tire spin. Then again, drifting through the corners in the snow is enjoyable too. These cars are heavier than the older mustangs so traction is surprisingly good, in my opinion. I'm sure you could put it in the ditch with a little effort, but all in all, it's driveable in the snow.

On my 01 traction control sucked in the snow, it wouldn't let me go any where I had to have it off.

I think the comfort group includes things like heated seats and electronic movable passenger seat, among other things.

The IUP (interior upgrade package) does include the aluminum (silver color) dash upgrade, as well as accent package like on the door trims, and the upgraded instrument cluster with the info display.

comfort group = heated driver/passenger seats, motorized seat controls for passenger (driver's come motorized stock), and the electrochromatic mirror. I'm not sure if HomeLink comes with the mirror, but the mirror changes color at night and during the day. The mirror also has a temperature desplay.
