Default Nitrous boys chime in!

I'm in the process of purchasing a zex kit from a forum member and i was wondering if you nitrous guys are running any gauges? If so, what for? Another question i had is if anyone knows where to buy that cup holder thing? The one that sits in the cupholders with 4 buttons. I want to get Line Locks,Cut-Outs,Nitrous Arming, and a Purge in there. Also, around how much rwhp is picked up from a 100shot? What kind of times can i expect with some MT ET Steets mounted on stock 17s? Thanks!

loose the cut outs bro and get a bottle warmer added to your switch panel.

your exhaust set up now will sound better then any cutouts, they sound like **** IMO

good luck with the install and let us know how you like it.

I'm using a Aeroforce Gauge to read fuel pressure, that's an important one to measure. You should have a nitrous pressure gauge either on the bottle (easier) or on the pillar.

As far as buttons, I'd suggest...

-Arm
-Remote Bottle Opener
-Heater
-Purge

I also have a master switch that controls power to all the others.

I wanted cut-outs because i think open headers + cams would sound pretty freakin insane for 'those certain times.' The package im looking at includes bottle warmer and msd window switch.

Yeah there is a pressure gauge on the bottle. I will look into the fuel pressure gauge, how much did it cost you? Where did you mount it?

I'm a complete nitrous noob, so when i want to use the nitrous, i first have to heat it up,arm it, open bottle, AND THEN it kicks in? How long does it usually take?

The Zex kit is very easy to install, the MSD window switch is a little more difficult just because of its size.

The warmer is important in the fall and spring, in the summer I didn't need it and the bottle stayed at 900 lb pressure. You need the pressure gauge for the nitrous, fuel pressure not as important in my opinion. The Zex management unit adjusts the fuel and nitrous based upon the pressure.

As far as the switches, on my SOS cupholder panel I have the arm button, purge button, heater, and line lock. If you are at the track you will be popping open the trunk to open the bottle before you get in the staging lanes so the remote opener isn't critical.

As far as use, your set up is a little off - check your bottle pressure, heat if needed (you want around 900 lbs), arm the unit. The Zex then reads wide open throttle before the nitrous will hit, but if you have a window switch it will impede the signal to the Zex nitrous management unit (NMU) until your RPM window opening is hit and then tell the NMU you are at WOT. The window switch will then close the nitrous window when you hit your upper RPM limit.

Ahhh i see. Thanks for the info bud.

A few more questions...

How long does a 10lb bottle usually last?

How much rwhp is a 100shot good for?

Where do you guys have your purge? (I want it coming out of the front grills horse)

a shot is ~ to rwhp so a 100 shot should give you like 100rwhp and 150+ ftlbs

With a 75 shot I picked up 63 rwhp. The 75 shot will last me 10 to 12 passes at the track. A 100 shot will of course not last quite as long.

My purge comes out right at the pony's snout, this isn't the best shot of it because I was facing into the wind:
