Separate subtopic, separate answer (edit: Rip beat me to it by a few seconds )

26 psi seems to be about where that happens, but this may vary a little due to tolerances in the components making up the TPMS system.

Screw TPMS. It's just another thing I have to deal with when changing tires. I can watch my pressure on my own thanks.

Each vehicle that I own (I presently own 3) has a tire pressure gauge in the glove box. I can tell you at any time what the tire pressure is for each (within 2 lbs ONLY because of ambient changes) and you won't find a difference of more than 1/2 PSI per tire on any of them. Call me **** but I'm critical about such things that greatly affect my ride's performance.

TPMS definately IS a PITA as the OP stated. Although I haven't had a TPMS warning light yet, I HAVE had to deal with new straps and installation on new wheels.

well, mine doesn't. maybe they had it as an option. i think for all 2007 vehicles it was federally mandated.

You're right. Looks like I shouldn't have to worry about it. Awesome!

There was a "phase-in" schedule, that the mfrs almost certainly interpreted to mean fitting TPMS to their mass-market and fleet sales cars before getting to those cars sold in smaller volumes.

100% compliance for Model Year 2008 (9/1/07
BTW, Bartech is one of the suppliers of TPMS service equipment, and their site contains links to other TPMS information.

Norm,

The OP didn't notice that his tires were low, but he did notice the light. So he fixed the problem. He should (as well as I should) have noticed that his tires were low prior to driving the car by doing routine maintenance.

My light went off right when a cold snap came through, and that reduction in pressure caused the TPMS system to trigger a warning light. I wasn't thinking of tire pressure when I went outside. I was thinking of how freaking cold it got overnight.

I tend to listen to music pretty loudly and don't notice odd sounds here and there because of it. I do (on a regular basis) drive without my loud music playing to listen for sounds that might be problematic and require a fix, but let's say that I hit a nail and instead of a loud pop, it starts to bleed off pressure on my way to work. The light is triggered and I investigate/fix the problem. Thanks TPMS!

I usually agree with you when I read your posts, but this one I can't get myself to fully agree with you. Also, if I am constantly monitoring my cars performance, how am I to monitor all the crazy Florida drivers (that sometimes requires full attention)?
