Please help me make my new car choice
2008 V6 GT66 (GT 66 is cool appearance package with dual exhaust body kit and wheels on a V6 deluxe mustang only 250 made) Torch red. (i like it and could somewhat easily afford it)
2009 V6 Premium Black with leather and uplifter package (i absolutley love it but it would be harder to afford but it could be done) Or i wait a year and maybe get a used GT what do guys suggest i cant make up my mind |
GT, you'll be happy you waited.
|
+1 on the GT. Go test drive a V6 and a GT and if you like the extra power and performance then go for the GT. And in a year from now there'll probably be a bunch of used ones in the lots cuz of the new 2010 sold. Maybe even some with some mods. Once you drive a GT you won't want anything else.
|
I also say get the GT. How much are the new v6's going for? You can get a nice GT with 10k or less miles on it for around 18k. I got a V6 while my dad has a GT, and its like night and day. We are now looking to trade in my V6 for a used GT. Theyre just a better deal for me in the long run. Plus you cant beat that V8 sound ;)
|
I like the look of the mustang the power doesnt matter for a couple reasons
1. The insurance for me would be insane im 18 2. I am a speed freak and would most likely cause me problems having power 3. Im impatient 09 New premium black V6 with uplifter package, leather and all power 08 used GT66 V6 6000 miles its a deluxe mustang basically with body kit and dual exhaust I really like the 09 but i can afford the 08 easier and i like it alright my question is shoul i follow my heart or my wallet |

You can't go wrong with a stang whether you get the v6 or the v8 :). Both have their pros and cons. Get the one that fits your budget best and has all of the features you want. I like my sixxer. It responds well to bolt ons and is pretty fun to drive after doing some minor mods. As much as I like my sixxer, I would have preferred a GT. I was 18 when I got my stang and got the v6 because it was easier for me to afford.
There are endless parts and mods for both the GT and V6 so its hard to get bored with either car. Once you start feeling bored there is always a mod you can do that will make your car look better or be even more fun to drive. |
gt +1

Umm...the sig pic says it all my friend! Don't waste your time or money with a V6!
|
Get a GT convertible auto, it's as slow as a v6 pony package manual with a tune. I've driven them back to back
The GT convertible has significantly more modability resale value and respect than the v6. PM me if you want me to find you such a car in your budget. I find people cars on commission at least once a month so i know where to look. If financing is an issue talk to your bank. |

Fail.
http://images.autotrader.com/images/..._A.562x421.jpg ^Same price as the first one, and close enough to where it makes no difference miles. better looks more resale value and infinitely more respect as a Roush than a mustang with a Razzi body kit (this is a v6 clone). |

JMO, I think the GT would be worth the wait
|
No doubt you'd like either but you'll be hungry for the GT before long.
And change that shirt while you're at it. Your mom needs to stop telling you what to wear, too. |

It won't carry the same as a GT/CS, a roush, saleen, GT500, or any of those. And you'll definately be happier with the GT.... |
alot of the 09s were pretty expensive, around 20 or so. ive heard of people getting new GT's for around 23 right now. get a GT, my friends v6 is fun, quick and decent but the GT is so much more fun

I think one of his main points is he doesn't want the added insurance of a GT. The insurance companies would nail and 18 year old to the wall with a GT vert. |
Wait for the GT. You will get the v6 and then later want the GT. It happens to a lot of people and I see people go car to car and then finally end with the GT. I would start with the GT. If you live with your parents, get on their insurance, it will save you money for insurance. You shouldnt have to pay over 1500 a year for it (little over 100 a month).

Can't argue with the replies you've gotten so far, but the KEY to your choice is to consider your AGE & the personal character traits you listed!
If it were ME... I'd find a used GT that's been modded to my taste - they're so many available for so little compared to the crazy money you're prepared to spend on a V6... When I see the DEALS on used GTs with loads of COOL upgrades (that I'd end up wanting to do if I had a stock GT) I can't believe I didn't research Mustangs longer before pulling the trigger & buying my V6! I've got 15K invested in mine, for 18K I could have bought a NICELY modded 3 year-old GT... dammit! On the other hand, you're only 18 & know yourself to be an impatient leadfoot, so you would probably wrap a GT around a tree within 6 months & become a "teen-driver" statistic! My V6 is plenty fast enough that I'd have been thrilled to own it @ 18! |

just more fun to drive and modding it is fun too. the extra 100 horses under the hood is a must. |
Get a used GT.
|
I sell insurance for a living. The price difference between the v6 and the GT for me was about 5 bucks a month haha. don't believe any rumors you hear. a mustang is a mustang. Rates are based off of replacement cost so the difference between the pony package v6 I had and the base model GT I bought wasnt that big. Just go with a used GT. The v6 was kinda cool but to be honest I hated it everytime I drove it. SO WEAK!
oh and another "insurance myth" to put to rest is, don't base your color choice off insurance price either, we could care less what color the car is, red, blue, yellow, you could have a lime green one and we wouldn't care. until your 25 your rates are going to be high, so if your getting a mustang, just go with the GT. |
2009 Dodge Challenger SRT FTW.
|
is this a serious question? driving a v6 is like showering with your clothes on, or having sex with a condom...its just not the same!
|
the v6 gt66 may look cool but get a gt. i have no idea where and how iROK24/7 spent
15k in his v6. thats just not the brightest thing to do, sorry iROK, don't mean to knock on you |
yeah go with the gt. if you buy that mustang with the fancy name, body kit, and rims you're going to be a smiles until someone blows your door off in a stock gt or even that new hyundai that out accelerates a boxter according to the advertisements lol. that's when you get depressed and park your car and talk to everyone about how much you hate it. plus with that car it just ain't cool to only be able to "talk the talk" you've got to be able to "walk the walk" too! unless you're not into that kinda stuff... but then why are you looking at mustangs???? and I definitely don't mean to start a flame war here but i just don't see the point of a 6 cyl mustang. if that's all I was going to be able to get than not for nothing but I'd be looking for a different kind of car. i remember when I was in highschool and someone in my class bought a brand new v6 convertible when the new edge's first came out. he thought it was the **** and than all I remember was him getting ridiculed for buying a v6. don't be that guy!

LMAO...perfect example |
yea go with the GT...if u dont every time u drive past a dealer u will be wishing that u did...unless u wanna go the v6 route for insurance purposes...but u say u dont need the power but a few days later u will want it
|
You guys are breaking my balls, i guess it's all for the best though i reckon im going to get a insurance quote maybe ill put it in a parents name and start searching for a GT i already have some spotted i just gotta convince the cosigners, which i think is going to be a little challenging because my dad is the kind of parent who says dont go near the water when i tell him im going fishing
|
+1 on the gt,I have driven both and the v6 feels not bad.
|
mine isnt my primary driver so the insurance isnt that bad
|
If it's any consolation, the GT only gets roughly 2-3 MPG less than the V6 on the highway. That's pretty damned good for a performance V8.
|
GT.
this GT66 thing sounds like a bunch of hollaballu if you ask me. |
I found this and wondered if any were a good deal because it is so far away i dont want to drive there multiple times i figure i will test drive one closer to me then that one when i make the trip there hopefully the day i buy it
