Default Another FRPP Stinger Thread!!

After buying Christmas presents for everyone else...I decided to pickup a present for myself!

Just installed the Stingers (Part No. M-5230-5GT)...got them from the local dealer. They weren't cheap, but at least I didn't have to wait for them to be shipped (to Hawaii, it's a PITA).

The install took 45 mins...(I was eating breakfast and wrenching)...heh heh heh...could've been faster if I was in a rush. The tips lined up really easy.

They sound GREAT!! Yes, there is some drone, but nothing unbearable. (IMHO) Other's may have a lower tolerance for the droning, but it's not bad at all...the drone is loudest (as others have stated) in 5th gear going around 55 - 60 mph, but nothing the Shaker 1000 can't handle.

When I mash the go-pedal...the sound is SAWEEET!!!

I highly recommend these axle-backs!

Aloha!

Glad you're happy with them. I absolutely love mine. I was on a 420 mile road trip this past weekend and was in beehive of LEO's and had to sit just below 70 MPH at about 1800 RPM and smack in the drone range. It wasn't bad but I did step it up back to 70 MPH until I was out of "danger" and could run. I'm sure the LEO would have understood ("But officer, I have some drone at the PSL so I had to speed up...") had he pulled me over...

You should consider an O/R H-pipe now if you like LOUD, it's a whole different story!

+1 on stingers being the best axle backs for the s197. if you can handle the drone they are swwwweeettt. nice sound inside the car and loud as hell outside when you get on it.
love mine and would not put any other exhaust on.

I'm still a stinger fan even though I couldn't handle the drone on mine. I later sold them. Here's a video of my Stingers with a Bassani Catted-X. Sounds a lot better in person than in the video. Bassani catted X added a new level of rawness to it. Dang it was awesome. Crying shame about the drone.

Shameless plug - this catted X will be for sale relatively soon. I'm getting longtube headers and this midpipe only fits stock manifolds or shorties.

Had mine for about a week now and I am use to the drone doesn't bug me one bit anymore in fact now that my body doesn't mind it I love the sound on the LA cruise this weekend after watching some Fly by vids with like 20 other stangs in front of me when i psadded the camera I would def say mine was the deepest maybe not the loudest but most defintely the deepest =) next mod is either CAI/Tune or a new Midpipe not sure on what I want there yet though.

branomano glad you like your stingers and that your body got used to the drone. how was the cruise this weekend? and cai/tune combo ftw as ur next mod. will make the exhaust a lil louder and wake your baby right up.

It was sooo freaking awesome can't wait to do it again even though getting there was an adventure and finding my way was an even bigger adventure... haha but Joe was really cool one of the guys in Stangpede was leaving as well in the same direction so i followed him for a ways but he had to get off and he noticed me go the wrong way i guess he called Joe and Joe called me and told me so I looked up directions on my phone thank god for that haha and ended up making it home... haha learning experiences.
